1.2 Dog Profile Information

You may optionally provide information about your dog (name, breed size, weight, age, coat type). This information is:

  • Stored only in your browser's local storage (on your device)
  • Never transmitted to our servers or any third party
  • Used solely to customize walking recommendations
  • Deletable at any time by clearing your browser data

1.3 Cookies and Local Storage

We use minimal browser storage for:

  • Cookie consent preferences
  • Dog profile settings (breed size, weight, age, coat type)

We do not use tracking cookies unless you explicitly consent.

1.4 Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous usage metrics (page views, load times). This data does not include personally identifiable information and is used solely to improve the service.

2. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • National Weather Service (weather.gov) — weather forecasts and observations
  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim — address geocoding and reverse geocoding
  • Zippopotam.us — US zip code lookups
  • US Census Bureau Geocoder — fallback address geocoding
  • Vercel Analytics — anonymous usage analytics

These services have their own privacy policies. Your location data is sent to weather and geocoding services solely to retrieve information needed to generate your recommendation.

3. Children's Privacy

Our service does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

4. Data Retention

We do not store personal data on our servers. All data processing occurs in real-time and is not retained after your session. Browser-stored preferences (dog profile, cookie consent) persist on your device until you clear them.

5. Your Rights

Under applicable privacy laws (including GDPR and CCPA), you have the right to:

  • Access any personal data we hold about you (we hold none)
  • Request deletion of personal data (we store none server-side)
